4th Annual Austin City Wide Iftar with Ilhan Omar

  • Double Tree by Hilton Austin (map)

“Ramadan is the (month) in which the Quran was sent down, as a guide to mankind and a clear guidance and judgement (so that mankind will distinguish from right and wrong).." (Q 2:183)

Please join us Saturday, May 18 at the 4th Annual Austin City Wide Iftar in collaboration with the Austin Mayor's office.

Emgage Texas aims to educate and empower Muslim Americans through educational events, voter initiatives, and leadership development.

This Iftar event will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel at 7 pm with registration starting at 6 pm. Due to speeches by our key guests, the program will be starting earlier and ending with the Iftar dinner. As the signature event for Emgage Texas, we are excited that the Guest of Honor will be Austin Mayor Steve Adler and our Keynote Speaker will be Special Guest Congresswoman Rep. Ilhan Omar.

In 2016, Ilhan Omar became the first Somali-American, Muslim legislator in the United States. With the help of her committed campaign team, they increased voter turnout by 37%. She was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 60B, where she’s lived for the past 20 years and where she and her husband Ahmed are raising their three children.

Registration: 6:00 pm-7:00 pm
Doors Close: 7:00 pm
