This discussion and workshop will focus on how communities can respond to local white nationalist activity and why it’s vitally important that they do so. The white nationalist movement and its larger “alt-right” coalition is shaping a public narrative that endangers community cohesion, and limits the ability of people of color, immigrants and refugees, and other marginalized communities to participate in civic life without the threat of criminalization, harassment, or violence. The impact on people of color and immigrant and refugee communities has been devastating and undercuts the ability to expand rights and opportunity in the U.S.
